Road Ruts
September 16, 2011
Several months ago, someone apparently drove down our road when it was wet. They slipped a bit when crossing our biggest wash and dug a wheel rut. That one rut was all that was needed to create a deep gash. When heavy rains came, they dug the rut deep.
I’m now in the process of filling that in, raising the road bed a bit, and creating drainage areas. Lots of work to do by hand but hopefully I can get this solid and stable over time. I’m also thinking about putting a sign at the entrance to ask that no one goes that way when its wet. Its not technically a dead end so I won’t mark it as such. On the upside we’ve seen all of about 5-10 vehicles come through here in a year. We are the only regular users of this road.

I had tried doing a little overseeding on our own lawn last year because I had several patchy places, and found it worked well by the start of summer!
