Today We’re Camping In Louisiana
We made it to Louisiana, just east of Shreveport by around 50-100 miles. We’re north of Minden in the Caney District of the Kisatchie National Forest.
We don’t have much time to enjoy this area because we want to be in SC by early Wednesday. This place is very pretty though. Lots of trees and greenery everywhere. It’s hot but a sticky hot. Sweat has been pouring off of us and every little branch we brush up against leaves things sticking to us. I won’t even begin to tell you about the dog hair
I haven’t had much time to add all the pictures of various places we’ve been camping since we started this at the beginning of July, and that’s started to annoy me so I decided to get at least something ready to post
My Live Writer doesn’t play nice with the version of WordPress I have installed here either, so when I publish anything it looks horrible online until I get a chance to fix it.
We have noticed on potential problem area as we travel East: So far no one has heard of the concept of buying water
We have four 7 gallon water jugs we usually fill up at a water station – these are filtered water machines at convenience stores. Normally we find these water machines at a circle K or Allsups, and we can get water for a quarter per gallon or 5 gallons for $1. No one we’ve asked in both East Texas nor Western Louisiana has ever heard of such a thing
Thankfully the Texas welcome center allowed us to use their water hose to fill up though, so we got 20 gallons before coming up into the forest to camp for a couple of days.
We’re low on power for the computer though and the heavy forest here will make getting enough sunlight for our solar a challenge. As you can see from the pictures above: It is beautiful though
